Pinoy Racists
January 12, 2008
Today, aspirant politician Ping Lacson once again announces its ticket for the presidential elections. He called it “Jeep ni Erap” where he exposes some politicians’ wishes to join the opposition party list. Some of the big names are De Castro, Escuedero, Roxas and Legarda.
Yes, here we are again, talking politics but are pinoys ready for it? Are we grown up or just can’t get rid of excessive and manipulative corruptions that is shaping this dying country? Corruption is everywhere and no matter what we do, whoever sits the throne as “Philippine Ceasar” will indeed do corruption. It is in our system and it takes God and godly men to change this satanic system we have right now. Yes, it is everywhere not just in our country but the difference is that, ours are more intense and slowly it becomes a business. We have been given a chance before in the person of ROCO and Villanueva but most of us belittle their abilities. We are impressed during the national debate conducted by ABS-CBN where ROCO and Villanueva make known what they can perform and how they can help enliven our economy. Only two showed up, others are too coward, but these two men occupy the last rank in the presidential election. Just like America, we too are still battling in racism, although not by color but this new age racism. Is the Philippines ready for a born again Christian to lead the country? Are we ready to have a Muslim President? I don’t think so…..
SWS surveyed that Pinoys are desperate in our political system, as a result, more and more Pinoy wishes to go abroad for there is no more “brilliant opportunity” waiting especially for the newly graduates. Statistics shows that majority of the newly graduates preferred to go abroad with a primary reason, greener pasture! Those who can afford to go abroad will then go out without any hesitant at all! As Canada, Australia and other progressive country is accepting skilled workers, Philippines half baked or unskilled individuals are growing rapidly, as back up with malnutrition. OFW remittances are good for now but the long term effects are far more worst than ever. Those who migrated abroad will soon bring their family with them(that’s a two generation gap already), only few goes back to the Philippines and invest, which majority of them are from Hong Kong who is serving as “maids/helper” for a couple of years. So who will take care of our country then?
We often think and choose politicians, those who are popular guys with good looking in medias, but we never scrutinize or look deeper into their credentials before they have join the office. Are they into public service even way back before? Do they have experience in running the government, or perhaps their company or non-profit organization? For this we can weight that it is in their bones to serve with or without in the office. Wiling to serve, whether he became popular or not.
May we take these Pinoy Racism of ours and start to think beyond the box. Whether he is a Baptist, Born Again Christian, Muslim, Actor or Actress, or a Cebuano perhaps, all has the right to run as our constitution tells us so, but may we focus on their living and platform of government. By this we pick the right guy not because they are in the popular jeep line up or media good looking fellow. Thru this we will slowly achieve maturity and racism breakthrough!
